Profit Info panel in MetaTrader 4 showing closed profit, pips and lots totalled by day, week, month and year in a chart corner.
Profit Info in MetaTrader 4. Open-source (MIT), by Ice FX.
// at a glance

Profit Info is a free MIT-licensed MetaTrader 4 panel by Ice FX that reads your closed trade history and totals realised profit, pips and lots for today, yesterday, the last few trading days, the week, month and year. It is for MT4 traders who want a quick at-a-glance scorecard on the chart.

Profit Info is a compact on-chart panel for MetaTrader 4 that summarises your closed trading results without opening the account history tab. It tallies realised profit, pips, lot volume and gain percentage across several time windows so you can read your recent performance at a glance.

What is Profit Info, and what does it do in MT4?

Profit Info is a free, MIT-licensed MT4 indicator written by Ice FX. It is a reporting utility, not a trade signal. Once attached to a chart it scans your account's closed order history and prints a small table in a corner of the window, breaking down your results by time period and colouring positive figures green and negative figures red.

Each row shows the total lots traded, the date or label, the net pips, the closed profit in account currency and the gain as a percentage of balance. Below the rows it also prints an approximate daily and monthly average gain percentage derived from the year-to-date figures.

On every refresh the indicator loops through your closed deals in the terminal's history pool using OrdersHistoryTotal, keeping only real market trades (buy and sell) that pass its filters. For each surviving order it adds OrderProfit plus OrderCommission plus OrderSwap to get true net profit, computes pips from the open and close prices using a digit-aware pip multiplier that handles 3 and 5 digit Forex quotes plus gold, silver and CFD scaling, and accumulates the lot size.

It groups those totals into fixed buckets: today, yesterday, the three previous trading days, the current week (from Monday), the current month, and the year. The gain percentage for each line is profit divided by the balance that existed before that profit. The panel then estimates a daily and monthly average gain from the year-to-date numbers. To stay light it only redraws every 10 seconds, so figures update on a short delay rather than tick by tick.

Because the table is built only from closed orders, it does not reflect floating profit on open positions, and it does not predict price or place any orders. It is purely a read-only accounting view of trades that have already finished.

Which Profit Info inputs matter most?

The inputs control which trades are counted and how the panel looks. The most useful options are the filters at the top, which let you scope the report to a strategy or date range.

InputDefaultWhat it controls
MagicNumber-1Counts only trades with this magic number, so you can isolate one EA or system. -1 means count all magic numbers.
CommentFilter(empty)Counts only trades whose order comment contains this text. Empty means no comment filter is applied.
OnlyAttachedSymbolTRUEWhen TRUE, only trades on the chart's symbol are totalled. Set FALSE to report across all symbols in history.
StartDateFilter(empty)Ignores any trade closed before this date. Useful for excluding old history. Empty means count from the start.
CornerCORNER_RIGHT_LOWERWhich chart corner the panel anchors to. Left corners also flip the column order.
FontSize8Text size of the panel in points. Raise it on high-resolution screens for readability.
FontColorGrayColour of neutral text such as headers, labels and zero values.
FontColorPlusGreenColour used for positive profit, pip and gain figures.
FontColorMinusFireBrickColour used for negative profit, pip and gain figures.
BGColorBlackBackground block colour drawn behind the panel for contrast against the chart.

How do you add Profit Info to MetaTrader 4?

  1. Download and unzip the Profit Info archive from this page.
  2. In MetaTrader 4, open File then Open Data Folder.
  3. Open the MQL4 folder, then the Indicators subfolder.
  4. Copy the indicator file from the zip into the Indicators folder.
  5. Back in MT4, right-click Navigator and choose Refresh so the new indicator appears.
  6. Drag Profit Info onto any chart, set the filters and colours, then click OK.
  7. Confirm the summary panel appears in your chosen corner of the chart.

Where does Profit Info help, and where does it fall short?

What Profit Info does well, and where it falls short, with nothing hidden.

  • Free and MIT-licensed, so you can use and modify it without restriction.
  • Shows net profit including commission and swap, not just the raw position result.
  • Filters by magic number, comment and start date let you isolate a single EA or campaign.
  • Breaks results into clear day, week, month and year buckets with colour coding.
  • Read-only and lightweight, with a 10 second redraw that keeps it off the critical path.
  • Reports closed trades only, so floating profit on open positions is not shown.
  • The day, week, month and year buckets are fixed and cannot be customised in the inputs.
  • The daily and monthly average gain figures are rough estimates, not audited statistics.
  • Pip values rely on symbol digit detection that may misread unusual or exotic CFD quotes.
  • It is a backward-looking scorecard, not an analytical or predictive tool, and places no trades.

Profit Info: questions traders ask

Does Profit Info repaint?

No. It reports historical closed-trade totals that do not change after the fact, so there is nothing on the chart to repaint. It simply redraws the panel about every 10 seconds with the latest figures.

Does it place or manage trades?

No. Profit Info is a read-only reporting indicator. It only reads your closed order history and draws a panel. It never opens, closes or modifies any orders.

Will it work on MetaTrader 5?

No. This is an MT4 .mq4 indicator and uses MT4 history functions. It will not compile or run on MT5 without being rewritten for that platform.

Is it free?

Yes. Profit Info is released under the MIT licence by Ice FX, so it is free to use and modify.

Why does my floating profit not show up?

By design the panel counts only closed orders. Open positions and their unrealised profit are excluded, so the figures reflect completed trades only.

Can I report on just one EA or one symbol?

Yes. Use the MagicNumber input to isolate a specific EA, the CommentFilter to match an order comment, and OnlyAttachedSymbol to limit the report to the chart's symbol or expand it to all symbols.
